Kenopsy — Terms of Use and safety
Effective date: 22 October 2026 · Last updated: 22 October 2026
Kenopsy is a horror game for iPhone and Android phones, made by EigenThink AI LLC (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us. In sections 10, 11 and 13, “we” and “us” also include EigenThink AI LLC’s members, managers, employees and the contractors who work on Kenopsy for us, who may rely on those sections. These terms cover playing Kenopsy safely, the terms the app comes with, and the terms for using this website.
Please read these terms before you play. If you live in the United States, they include binding individual arbitration instead of court, and a waiver of class actions and jury trials (section 13), which you can opt out of within 30 days (section 13.8). They also include your acceptance of the risks of playing a horror game while moving around (sections 2 to 5 and 10) and a limit on what we owe you (section 11). If you do not agree, do not play.
1. What you are about to play
Kenopsy is a horror game made for people aged 13 and over. It is made to frighten you. It uses sudden loud sound, flashing light, screen movement and dark, frightening themes. Creatures move toward you and rush at the camera, and swarms of crawling and flying insects can appear around you and on the screen. Some players feel watched for a while afterwards. For most players that feeling fades; if it does not, see section 4.
Before you can play, the app asks your age and shows you a safety notice, with links to these terms and our privacy policy. To start, you tick two boxes. The first says that you have read the safety notice and accept its risks. The second says that you agree to these Terms of Use, including individual arbitration and a class-action waiver, and that you have read the Privacy Policy. The second box works only after you have opened both documents. If you are 13 to 17, you also tick a third box, saying that a parent or guardian has read the notice with you and agrees to these terms for you. Ticking the boxes and tapping Start is how you accept these terms.
The app keeps a record of your acceptance on your phone: the notice’s version, the date and your age group. When you tap Start, a copy of the acceptance (a receipt) is also kept on our server. It carries your age group, never your date of birth. On iPhone it also carries Apple’s id for the Apple Account that downloaded the app; on Android it carries no account id. We may use the receipt to show what was accepted and when. The privacy policy explains what the receipt holds and how long we keep it. You can read the notice, these terms and the privacy policy again at any time from Settings ▸ Safety & legal, which also shows your receipt code.
2. Flashing light and seizures
A very small number of people can have a seizure when they see flashing lights or patterns, even if they have never had one before. If you or anyone in your family has had a seizure or epilepsy, talk to a doctor before you play.
Stop playing at once and see a doctor if you or anyone watching has any of these: dizziness, blurred or changed vision, eye or muscle twitching, jerking movements, confusion, or a moment of lost awareness.
The game has a Reduce flashing switch on the safety notice and in Settings. Turn it on if flashing troubles you or anyone watching. It lowers the flashing in the game but cannot remove every change in light, so stop if you feel unwell. Ads are made by other companies and we cannot check them for flashing light. While Reduce flashing is on, a player aged 18 or over is warned and asked before ads play (a “watch anyway” answer is kept for 24 hours), and a player aged 13 to 17 is offered no ads (section 8). On iPhone, Reduce flashing also turns on by itself when the phone’s Reduce Motion setting is on.
3. Play where you can see
Kenopsy uses your camera and asks you to move around a room and turn the phone.
- Kenopsy works anywhere, so choose where you play with care: somewhere you can move safely and see the ground around you.
- Clear your path before you dim the lights. Mind stairs, furniture, pets and the people around you.
- You don’t need to walk far. You never need to move fast or step backwards. Walk slowly.
- Never play on or beside roads, in car parks or parking lots, or near traffic.
- Never play while driving or cycling, or near water, platforms, balconies or drops.
- Look up from the screen often, and stay aware of where you are and who is around you.
- Hold the phone firmly and keep a hand free near stairs.
- Play only in places where you are allowed to be. Do not film or photograph other people without their permission.
- If you are the parent of a younger teenager, stay nearby the first time they play.
Where you play is your choice, and keeping yourself and others safe is your responsibility.
4. Your health
Kenopsy is made to frighten you, with sudden loud sounds and startling moments. If you are pregnant, or have a heart condition, high blood pressure, an anxiety or panic disorder, PTSD, or another condition that stress or sudden shocks could affect, ask a doctor before you play.
If you have a strong fear of insects or spiders, turn Insects off on the safety notice or in Settings ▸ Hunt settings before you play. It removes the crawling and flying insects, but the game is still frightening.
Stop at once and rest if you feel unwell, faint, dizzy, sick, short of breath, have chest pain, or feel very distressed, or if your eyes or hands hurt. If you have chest pain, trouble breathing or another medical emergency, stop and call your local emergency number.
Some players feel uneasy for a while after playing. If that feeling stays with you or troubles you, stop playing and talk to someone you trust or a doctor. For your first game, consider playing in daylight or with someone nearby.
5. It is a game
Everything you meet in Kenopsy is made up. The app does not detect, measure or reveal anything real: not spirits, presences, energy or people. What appears on your screen is drawn by the game on top of the camera picture. Nothing the game shows means anything about your home or the people in it.
6. Who can play
Kenopsy is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 13, do not play: the app stops at the age step.
If you are 13 to 17, you may play only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who should read this page and the safety notice with you. When you tick the parent or guardian box, a parent or guardian must have read the notice with you, and they are agreeing to these terms for you. They are responsible for your play and your purchases, and they agree that you may be shown ads as described in section 8. If you keep playing after you turn 18, you confirm these terms for yourself.
Answer the age step truthfully, for the person who will play. The app decides what to offer, for example which ads are offered, from the answer kept on the phone. If someone else will play on your phone, they must read the safety notice and these terms and agree to them before they play.
7. The app’s licence and purchases
The app is licensed to you, not sold. On iPhone, it is licensed under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, and that agreement and these terms both apply (section 15). On Android, we license it to you under these terms, for your personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, and Google Play’s terms apply to how you get it from Google Play.
Unlock them all is a single purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks every creature in the game and ends the ads (section 8). New creatures, if we add any, come in separate packs that are sold separately and are not included in Unlock them all. We do not promise any particular number of creatures, packs, downloads or updates.
Purchases are sold and handled by Apple on iPhone and by Google Play on Android, under their own terms. A purchase made on one is not carried over to the other. Apple and Google handle payments and refunds: to ask for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com for Apple, or your Google Play order history for Google Play. Apple’s Family Sharing applies on iPhone only. If a purchase is refunded, the creatures it unlocked lock again and ads may be offered again. If you reinstall or change phone, Restore purchases in Settings ▸ About brings your purchase back on the same store.
How we handle data is explained in our privacy policy.
8. Ads
If you have not bought Unlock them all, you start a hunt either by buying it or by watching short video ads on the purchase card. Ads start only after you tap Watch an ad. For a player aged 18 or over, when a hunt takes more than one ad, the next ad may then start by itself after a short countdown, which you can stop. Ads are offered to players aged 13 and over.
- The ads come from Google AdMob and are made by other companies. We do not make them, choose each one or check them, and we are not responsible for what an ad shows or for the advertiser’s pages, apps or products. If an ad was wrong for the game, use Settings ▸ About ▸ Ads ▸ Report an ad.
- The ads are non-personalised: they are not chosen from what you do in other apps or websites. For players aged 13 to 17, we also tell Google that the player is a teenager under the age of consent and ask only for ads suitable for teenagers. How ads use data, and your ad choices, are explained in section 3.7 of our privacy policy.
- Before you tap, the card shows what watching gets you and how many ads are left. The number of ads a hunt takes, and the number of hunts ads can unlock each day, may change; the card always shows the current offer.
- If an ad cannot be shown, the hunt does not start. That can happen when no ad is available, when the phone is offline or too hot, or when ads are blocked on the phone. You can try again later, or buy Unlock them all. We do not promise that an ad will be available. If you close an ad before it gives its reward, that ad does not count.
- While Reduce flashing is on (section 2), a player aged 18 or over is warned that ads can flash and can choose to watch anyway. A player aged 13 to 17 is offered no ads while it is on, only the purchase.
- We may, for a time, switch ads off or give the hunt when an ad cannot be shown, for example during an outage. Doing so once does not oblige us to do it again.
9. Sharing your play
You may record, stream and share videos and screenshots of your play, including on channels that earn money, as long as you don’t extract or share the game’s files themselves (its models, music or sounds on their own). The music and sounds are licensed to EigenThink AI LLC by the people who made them. If your video gets an automated copyright claim, email support@kenopsy.com with the link and we’ll help you clear it. Please keep to the safety advice above while you film, and do not film other people without their permission.
10. The risks you accept
You choose when, where and how you play. Kenopsy is made to frighten you and asks you to move while looking at your phone, and the safety notice and sections 2 to 5 are part of playing it.
To the fullest extent the law allows, you accept the risks that come with playing Kenopsy: moving around while looking at a screen, being startled by sudden sound, light and movement, and feeling frightened or uneasy, including the risk that we were careless (negligent) in how we designed the game or its safety advice. You agree that we are not responsible for loss or harm that comes from those risks, from ignoring the safety advice, or from where you choose to play. This does not cover loss or harm caused by our gross negligence, our wilful misconduct or our fraud, any strict liability for a defective product, or anything the law does not allow you to give up. If you are under 18, this section applies only as far as the law where you live allows a parent or guardian to agree to it for you.
If you live in the United States, you agree to pay our reasonable losses, damages, settlements and costs, including lawyers’ fees, from any claim someone else brings against us because you broke these terms, played somewhere you were not allowed to be, or filmed someone without their permission, to the extent the law allows. We will tell you about any such claim, you may take part in how it is handled, and we will not settle it at your expense without your consent, which you will not unreasonably refuse.
11. Our responsibility and its limits
Kenopsy and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we give no promises or warranties beyond those in these terms, and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the game will run without interruption or errors, on every device or in every room.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunity, and our total liability to you for all claims about Kenopsy, the website or these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Kenopsy, through Apple or Google Play, in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, and (b) US$100. In plain words: apart from the cases in the next paragraphs, the most we can owe you is the greater of what you paid for Kenopsy in the last 12 months and US$100.
These limits apply whatever the legal basis of the claim, and even if we were told the loss was possible. They do not apply to death or personal injury, and they do not limit our liability for our gross negligence, our wilful misconduct or our fraud, or for anything else the law where you live does not allow us to limit or exclude. For death or personal injury, section 10 applies instead.
If you live in New Jersey, the following do not apply to you: the parts of sections 10 and 11 that would limit our liability for negligence that causes personal injury or for breaking a New Jersey consumer protection law, and section 13.7. The rest of these terms applies to you.
If you live in Australia or New Zealand, nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes the consumer guarantees and rights under your local consumer law.
If you live in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, sections 10 and 11 do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else your local law does not allow us to limit, and they do not take away your rights as a consumer under that law.
12. Which law applies
In these terms, “you live in” a country or state means your home is there when you accept these terms. These terms, and any dispute about Kenopsy, the website or these terms, are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and section 13 is also governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. Any court case that section 13 allows to go to court must be brought in the state courts in Orange County, California, or the federal court for the Central District of California, except a small-claims case, which may also be brought where you live, and except where the consumer law of your state or country gives you the right to bring it where you live.
If you live outside the United States, section 13 does not apply to you. If you live in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you also keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
13. Disputes and arbitration (if you live in the United States)
13.1 Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved quickly. Before starting any arbitration or court case, you and we each agree to send the other a written notice of the dispute and to try in good faith to resolve it for 60 days. Send yours to support@kenopsy.com with the subject “Notice of dispute”. It must include your name, a way to contact you, your receipt code from Settings ▸ Safety & legal if you have one, a description of the problem and what you are asking for, and it must be signed by you personally (a lawyer may help you, but each person sends their own notice). Typing your full name at the end of the email counts as signing it. We will send ours to the contact details you have given us. If you ask, we will talk with you by phone or video. Time limits for bringing a claim are paused for those 60 days. This section 13.1 does not apply to a request to a court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property.
13.2 Binding individual arbitration. If the dispute is not resolved within 60 days, you and we agree that any dispute, claim or controversy between you and us about Kenopsy, the website or these terms, including a claim under a privacy or consumer protection law, will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, except as section 13.3 allows. The arbitrator decides all questions about whether a dispute must be arbitrated, including the scope, validity and enforceability of this section 13. A court decides only whether you agreed to these terms, whether you opted out, whether section 13.6 is valid, and whether a claim seeks public injunctive relief. In arbitration, a neutral arbitrator decides instead of a judge or jury. The arbitrator can award the same individual relief a court could, but only for you and only as far as your individual claim needs.
13.3 What can still go to court. Either of us may bring an individual case in small-claims court instead, if it qualifies. Either of us may ask a court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. A claim for public injunctive relief (relief meant to protect the general public, not just you) goes to court after the individual arbitration is decided, and waits for it. Claims of sexual harassment or sexual assault may go to court if you choose, as federal law allows.
13.4 How it works. The arbitration is run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules and, where they apply, its own mass arbitration rules, as in force when the arbitration starts (adr.org). If the AAA cannot or will not run it, JAMS will run it under its rules and its consumer minimum standards, and if neither can, a court will appoint an arbitrator. The hearing is held by video or phone, or in person in the county where you live if you prefer, and a small claim can be decided on documents alone where the rules allow and you choose. The arbitrator must follow these terms and the law, and gives a written decision.
13.5 Who pays. You pay only the consumer filing fee set by the arbitration provider’s rules, and we pay all other provider fees and the arbitrator’s fees, within the time the rules and the law set. Each of us pays our own lawyers and costs, unless the law or the provider’s rules let the arbitrator order otherwise. If the arbitrator decides that a claim was frivolous or brought for an improper purpose, they may order the person who brought it to pay the fees and costs that the provider’s rules and the law allow.
13.6 No class actions or jury trials. You and we each agree to bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated or representative action or arbitration, and each of us gives up the right to a jury trial. The arbitrator may not combine more than one person’s claims, except as the AAA’s mass arbitration rules provide for administering many similar cases, and may not preside over any class or representative proceeding. A court, not the arbitrator, decides whether this section 13.6 is valid.
13.7 Deadline. To the extent the law allows, a claim for breach of these terms (not a claim for death or personal injury, or under a consumer protection or privacy law) must be started within one year after you knew or should have known of it, or it is barred.
13.8 You can opt out. You can reject this section 13 by emailing support@kenopsy.com within 30 days after you first accept this version of these terms, with the subject “Arbitration opt-out”, your name and, if you have one, your receipt code from Settings ▸ Safety & legal. A parent or guardian may send it for a player aged 13 to 17. Opting out does not affect the rest of these terms. If you opt out, disputes go to the courts named in section 12.
13.9 If part of this section fails. If a court decides that section 13.6 cannot be enforced for a particular claim or kind of relief, that claim or relief, and only that, goes to the courts named in section 12, and waits until the individual arbitration of everything else is finished. The rest of section 13 still applies. If any other part of section 13 cannot be enforced, that part is removed and the rest still applies.
13.10 If we change this section. If we change this section 13, the change never applies to a dispute that arose before you accepted it. You can reject the change by emailing us within 30 days after it is shown to you in the app; you can keep playing, and the version of this section you accepted before keeps applying to you.
Nothing in this section stops you from making a privacy request to us under section 9 of our privacy policy, or from telling a government authority about a concern. Any claim for money or other relief, including a claim under a privacy law, is decided under this section 13.
14. Changes to these terms
If we make a change that matters to you, such as a new obligation, a new limit or a change to section 13, we will show it in the app and ask you to accept the new terms before you play again. Such a change applies from the day you accept it, and never to a dispute that arose before. We may fix small things, such as typing errors, contact details or wording that does not change what you or we must do, by posting the new text here with a new date. Changes to section 16 (the website) apply when they are posted.
15. General
These terms, together with the in-app safety notice and, on iPhone, Apple’s licence agreement, are the whole agreement between you and us about Kenopsy. Our privacy policy explains how we handle data; it is not part of this agreement. Apple’s agreement governs the app’s licence on iPhone and your relationship with Apple; Google Play’s terms govern your relationship with Google. If Apple’s agreement and these terms differ on governing law, dispute resolution or liability, these terms apply to everything between you and us: sections 10, 11 and 13.7 set the only limits on our liability to you, and the limits and exclusions in Apple’s agreement do not apply between you and us.
If a court finds that any part of these terms cannot be enforced, that part is changed only as much as needed to make it enforceable, or removed, and the rest still applies; for section 13, section 13.9 decides instead. Sections 9 to 13 and 15 continue to apply after you stop playing or delete the app. If we do not enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a company that takes over Kenopsy, as long as it keeps to them. If these terms are translated, the English version applies.
16. Using this website
